Eddy Current Inspection for Rocket Motor Tubes (Crack Detection Systems)

Eddy Current Inspection for Rocket Motor Tubes (Crack Detection Systems)

This automated eddy current inspection system is designed to detect cracks on both the internal and external surfaces of aluminum and steel rocket motor tubes.

The system utilizes a dual-arm mechanism equipped with probe arrays positioned near the ends of each arm. One probe array is dedicated to inspecting the internal surface of the tube, while the other monitors the external surface. The inspection cycle begins when a tube is placed onto an inclined feeding unit, either manually or by a robotic handler, which then transfers the tube into the testing area.

During the inspection process, the tube rotates while the probe arrays move in and out of the tube, enabling continuous scanning of the entire surface.

Once the automated inspection cycle is completed, tubes identified with cracks are automatically diverted into a secure and covered collection container. Tubes that pass inspection proceed to the next stage of the production line.
